Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS)
No one should be deprived of access to justice simply because they cannot afford a lawyer. Volunteer to offer legal representation to accused persons with limited financial means.
(1) Scheme : Free legal representation for non capital cases where accused claims trial.
(2) Volunteer Requirements : Advocate and Solicitor Practising in a Singapore Law Practice.
(3) Average Pro Bono Time Commitment : 25 to 100 hours per lawyer per annum.
(4) Support Given For Volunteer Lawyers: Sourcing for assisting counsel/volunteer psychiatrists/volunteer interpreters, ad hoc legal research and paralegal support by volunteer law undergraduates, mentoring for junior lawyers by senior CLAS practitioners.
Ad Hoc Pro Bono Assistance Scheme
Provide legal representation to needy persons not covered by formal legal aid but with exceptional circumstances.
(1) Scheme : Pro bono legal representation for Civil or Criminal matters (not covered by CLAS).
(2) Volunteer Requirements : Advocate and Solicitor Practising in a Singapore Law Practice.
(3) Average Pro Bono Time Commitment : 25 to 100 hours per lawyer per annum
(4) Support Given For Volunteer Lawyers: Sourcing for assisting counsel/volunteer psychiatrists/volunteer interpreters, legal research and paralegal support by volunteer law undergraduates, mentoring for junior lawyers by senior practitioners.

Family Justice Support Scheme (FJSS) – Panel Lawyer
1. Scheme: (a) Low bono family law representation to Singaporeans and PRs who marginally fail the Legal Aid Bureau’s means test; or (b) Pro bono family law representation to foreign spouses with Singaporean children who pass the means test.
2. Volunteer requirements: Advocate and Solicitor Practising in a Singapore Law Practice with at least 3 years’ PQE (2 years in Family Law)
3. Average Time Commitment: 25 to 100 hours per lawyer per annum.
4. Support Given For Volunteer Lawyers: Sourcing for interpreters, ad hoc legal research and paralegal support by volunteer law undergraduates.

Family Justice Support Scheme (FJSS) – Volunteer translator / interpreter
1. Scheme: Provide interpretation / translation support to those applying for / granted (a) Low bono family law representation to Singaporeans and PRs who marginally fail the Legal Aid Bureau’s means test; or (b) Pro bono family law representation to foreign spouses with Singaporean children who pass the means test.
2. Volunteer requirements: (a) Fluent / proficient in one or more of the following languages – Chinese/Mandarin, Vietnamese, Thai, Tamil, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu. (b) Having legal background is desirable but not strictly required.
3. Average Pro Bono Time Commitment: 10 to 100 hours per volunteer per annum.
